2014 Photos: http://www.seedland.hk/press/plan/2014/3/
Robin Tang(3583 3233或robin@seedland.hk)、Miss Heidi Lam(3583 3310或 heidi@seedland.hk),或電郵plan@seedland.hk。
For Immediate Release 13th February 2014 Alex Fong and Stephy Tang put best foot forward for “Walk for Children” 2014 27th April at Kowloon West Waterfront Promenade Photos: http://www.seedland.hk/press/plan/2014/3/
Since assuming the role of Plan Ambassadors, renowned artistes Alex Fong and Stephy Tang have been tremendously supportive of Plan International Hong Kong. Not content to be child sponsors at a distance, they also visited their sponsored children in Kon Tum Province, Vietnam in order to gain first-hand experience of their living and learning environments. This year, both performers will put their best foot forward in support of “Walk for Children” 2014, to be held on 27th April 2014 in West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade, and they call on the public to join them. The “Walks for Children” in 2012 and 2013 organised by Plan International Hong Kong were a great success. Donations last year built and equipped three pre-school classrooms and provided teacher training for the organisation’s pre-school education programmes in Yunnan, China, benefitting 300 children in total. For the event this year, Plan has specially designed experiential zones in which participants will be able to experience in a small way the challenges and difficulties that underprivileged children in undeveloped areas have to face daily. Funds raised will directly support education programmes in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, China. This project will increase the quality and accessibility to early childhood education services for pre-school children, and will include school block construction, equipment upgrades and teacher training. Recalling the trip in Vietnam, Alex explained, "I’m very grateful to have been born into a fortunate family, as well as to have received ample support from them while pursuing my dreams as an athlete and an entertainer. Aside from sponsoring the children myself, I also wish to make my personal appeal to the public to join our cause.” He continued, “I am particularly concerned with the living conditions of children in China and I want to do my best to help them. As an artiste, I am really hoping to give a positive message to society, as I believe in Plan’s objective – for children to be able to grow up with the strength to walk out of poverty, they need to receive quality education.” In the meantime, Stephy showed her support by inviting her mom to join the “Walk for Children”, underscoring the theme of “Passing on the Love”. She said, “I have loved kids since I was little, and thus I am now sponsoring a girl in Vietnam through Plan, to experience a little of what being a mother means. One person has limited power, but together with others the effect will be much greater. There are still many children in the world today that are denied education and Ningxia is one of the regions where children need your prompt action! Please join us for the upcoming ‘Walk for Children’ 2014 and see you all on 27th April!” “Walk for Children” 2014 is now open for enrolment and the deadline is 27th March 2014. Participants may enjoy this special day with family and friends. Please visit Plan’s website (www.plan.org.hk) for more details or call 3583 3100 for enrolment and enquiries. The Hong Kong fundraising office of Plan International opened in July 2009. However, Plan’s relationship with Hong Kong reaches much farther back, to the 1950s, when it operated a field office in the territory for some 15 years. During that time, and under the name “Foster Parents Plan”, it helped nearly 12,000 children and their families, mostly new migrants from the Mainland and around the region.
